Micro-needling at The London Face and Skin Clinic
Medical micro-needling is the ultimate treatment for non-surgical and non ablative treatment of various skin conditions such as aging (wrinkles, stretching), scarring (acne, surgical), skin tightening (firming) and hyperpigmentation.
Clinical studies have shown micro-needling to be more effective than ablative treatments like laser resurfacing, dermabrasion, and chemical peel.
Micro-needling can be just as effective as non-ablative treatments like IPL, CO2 laser, and Fraxel in stimulating collagen and elastin production to thicken the skin thereby erasing wrinkles and smoothing scars.
How does medical micro-needling work?
The micro-needling device used here at TLFSC has up to 540 very fine needles to microinjure the skin sufficiently enough to stimulate collagen/elastin production with minimal damage to the epidermis.
Resulting micro-channels guarantee direct delivery of our specific collagen enhancing peptides and growth factors to the active skin layers for maximum efficacy.
Clinical studies have proven that skin absorption is increased by as much as 1,000 times when applied with micro-needling.
Clinical studies have also shown that micro-needling treatments are more consistent in increasing the thickness of the skin than IPL and other resurfacing treatments.
What can medical micro-needling treat?
Medical micro-needling is a great treatment for most skin types and for specific conditions including:
- Open pores and congested skin.
- Scarring from acne and chicken pox.
- Eliminating fine lines and wrinkles even in difficult areas.
- Stretch marks resulting from pregnancy.
What results can I expect?
Visible signs of skin rejuvenation are usually seen after just 6 weeks following the treatment and continue to improve for up to 12 months or more.
We would recommend a minimum course of 3 skin needling treatments, at 6 week intervals to achieve optimum results, however we tailor treatment plans on individual cases.

How painful is medical micro-needling?
The procedure is quite painful hence the liberal application of anaesthetic cream.
Clients often report that the forehead is the most painful part of the face and the fleshier parts of the cheeks and chin less so.
How long is downtime?
One will have the appearance of looking sun burnt for up to 48 hours after treatment.
Good healing skin will promote new growth. You will not need time off work.
If any special occasion has been planned, it is advisable to carry out the procedure ahead of time.
